Broad Application Category:hydrologic only
Primary Application Category:model and/or data interface
Secondary Application Category:irrigation impacts or irrigation BMP scenarios
Watershed Description:2,569 km^2 drainage area, which covers 1/2 of the Lower Republican River located in north central Kansas, U.S.
Calibration Summary:
Validation Summary:Monthly stream flow (1977-94) r2 = 0.85 (1977-90 was calibration & 1991-94 was validation; separate statistics are not reported)
General Comments:Methodology for interfacing SWAT with MODFLOW groundwater model is described. Modeling system was able to simulate low flow conditions adequately which were of primary concern. Tributary flow was found to be the dominant flow component of stream yields. Reduced irrigation was found to result in increased baselflow and stream yields.
