Model:SWAT
Broad Application Category:hydrologic only
Primary Application Category:snowmelt, frozen soil and/or glacier melt processes
Secondary Application Category:hydrologic assessment
Watershed Description:4,999 km^2 Wind River (West central Wyoming)
Calibration Summary:
Validation Summary:Annual (1991-96) average E = 0.86 (after adjustment); initial version of routine = -0.70
General Comments:Initial evaluation indicated that SWAT could not accurately simulate snowmelt processes for the mountainous watershed. Algorithms were then developed that distribute temperature & precipitation as a function of elevation bandsand account for snow? temperature, meltwater production, and areal snow coverage. Improved results were found with the new algorithms, with the E statistic increasing from -0.70 to 0.86 after the changes.
