Watershed Description:14,500 km^2 Upper Ouémé watershed, located in central Benin. The natural vegetation is a mosaic of woodland savannah and forest islands. Forest and woodland cover make up approximately 55% (7500 km^2) of the Upper Ouémé watershed. The major forest types in the area are tropical forest with more than 75% canopy cover (200 km^2) and dry forest with canopy cover of between 50 and 75% (1200 km^2) whereas woodlands have a canopy cover of between 25 and 50% (6100 km^2).
