Primary Application Category:preferential or crack flow, or other recharge method
Secondary Application Category:hydrologic assessment
Watershed Description:53.4 ha USDA-ARS Y-2 located near Riesal, Texas.
Calibration Summary:
Validation Summary:crack flow r2 = 0.84 surface runoff r2 = 0.87
General Comments:A crack flow volume model was developed for the study that determines crack flow volumes as a function of crack potential, soil depth, and soil moisture. The model was able to capture the effects of winter soil swelling phenomena and 1998 fall recharge events, that resulted in a large reduction in crack flow volume (from 70 to 10 mm). Model comparisons performed versus measured crack flows & surface runoff. Includes graphical comparisons.
