Edward J. Balistreri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His research focuses on the formulation of theory-based numeric simulation models of economic policy. Balistreri’s models have been used to analyze a diverse set of policy topics including climate change and international trade. He has also contributed to the literature on structural estimation and the empirical calibration of advanced models of industrial organization and trade. Balistreri is currently an Affiliate Scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and he has advised the USEPA on Science Advisory Board (SAB) and Stakeholder panels. Prior to his entry into academics, Balistreri worked as an economist for the United States International Trade Commission and Charles River Associates.
