Amani Elobeid is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University. She is also the international sugar and ethanol analyst with the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute. Her FAPRI work centers on developing and maintaining the international sugar and ethanol models including updating estimates and keeping track of the macroeconomic, domestic, and trade policy environments. Elobeid’s research involvement is in the areas of food security and food aid, international trade, and biofuels markets.
Elobeid received a BS in economics from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and an MS in economics from Iowa State University. She first came to Iowa State as a Fulbright Scholar and finished her PhD in economics at ISU in 2001. Prior to joining FAPRI-CARD, Elobeid worked as an instructor in the Department of Economics and the Department of Community and Regional Planning at Iowa State.
