Arbuckle study highlighted in Iowa State Daily article

A recent study by Professor J. Arbuckle and postdoctoral researcher Chris Morris was highlighted in an Iowa State Daily article. The study, "The effects of collective trauma on Iowa farmers, their communities, and sustainability outcomes" investigates how Iowa farmers perceive their own experiences of potential types of collective trauma, such as decades of extreme weather events, rapidly fluctuating markets, trade wars, rising input costs, farm bankruptcies and foreclosures, and high rates of farmer suicides.

Arbuckle told the Iowa State Daily that “Farmers have this reputation for being stoic. But when you sit down and show genuine interest in their history and operations, they open up. Talking about their experiences can actually be really effective in helping them cope.”
