Documentation

This database contains multiple datasets that can be used to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on China’s economy. The database contains seven types of data: IO sector-level data; GTAP sector-level data; province-level data; province by IO sector-level data; province by GTAP sector-level data; Concordance and sector classification; and, raw datasets. Specifically, this database provides province- and sector-level data, including cumulative growth rate of value-added, cumulative growth rate of investment in fixed assets, firm resumption rate, and labor resumption rate collected from official sources and online news. The data are provided at the monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly level.

This database can be used in quantitative economic modeling of the impact of COVID19 on China’s national and subnational economy. For example, one can use the monthly GTAP sector- level growth rate to model the impact of COVID19 shocks on China’s national output in general equilibrium settings. Or one can use the monthly provincial GTAP sector-level data to model the impact of COVID19 shocks on China’s subnational output in general equilibrium settings.

For more data details, please refer to notes included in the database. This database will be continuously updated as they become available every month.
