Gassman Named 2008 Iowa State University P&S Research Award Recipient

Phil Gassman, assistant scientist and a research agricultural engineer in the Resource and Environmental Policy Division of the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, has been chosen as a 2008 recipient of the P&S Research Award at Iowa State University.

The P&S Research Award is coordinated through the provost's office to recognize professional and scientific staff members for their excellence in research at Iowa State University. Nominations are made by colleagues or supervisors with supporting letters from peers. Gassman will be honored at the fall convocation and awards ceremony in September.

Fulbright Scholar

Jacinto Fabiosa, scientist and co-director of the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute at Iowa State University, has been named a Fulbright Scholar to conduct research at Cairo University, Egypt, from March through July. He will study the drivers of Egypt's expanding food consumption patterns to strengthen the institute's ability to provide relevant market information to U.S. policymakers and stakeholders.

Resource and Environmental Policy Division Wins College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Team Award

The Resource and Environmental Policy Division at CARD has been chosen to receive this year's Team Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.

Members of the team to receive recognition are Catherine Kling, professor of economics and division head; Todd Campbell, systems analyst; Hongli Feng Hennessy, associate scientist; Philip Gassman, assistant scientist; Manoj Jha, assistant scientist; and Silvia Secchi, associate scientist. The team was nominated by CARD Director Bruce Babcock for their interdisciplinary work on the "most contentious problems at the intersection between agriculture and the environment." The group will receive the award at the college’s spring convocation in February.
