Alejandro Plastina  ·  Associate Professor of Economics

Alejandro Plastina is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and an Extension economist at Iowa State University. His area of specialization is agricultural production and technology, with an emphasis on farm business and financial management.

Dr. Plastina graduated with a BA in economics from the University of La Plata (Argentina) in 2000, and completed an MS in statistics and a PhD in agricultural economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005 and 2007, respectively.

Prior to joining Iowa State University in 2014, Dr. Plastina was a senior economist at the International Cotton Advisory Committee in Washington, DC.

Dr. Plastina’s work has been recognized through the 2019 Agricultural and Applied Economics Association’s Distinguished Extension Program Individual: Less Than 10 Years Award, the 2018 Iowa State University ANR Programming Innovation Award, and the 2015 Impacting Iowa Award from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Dr. Plastina is responsible for teaching ECON 330: Advanced Farm Business Management.
