CARD: Center for Agricultural and Rural Development

Sandy Clarke joined CARD as communications manager in November 2000. Her professional background includes seven years as communications manager at the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA), where she was technical editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and managing editor of Choices—the Magazine of Food, Farm, and Resource Issues. She’s a 1987 Iowa State University journalism and communications graduate.

At CARD, Clarke oversees the editing and production process for research papers and other publications written by CARD faculty and staff. She is managing editor of CARD’s quarterly newsletter, Iowa Ag Review. She also manages the organization’s Web site content, writes news releases, and serves as media liaison for CARD and its affiliates. And, she helps coordinate conferences and special events.

She and her husband, Al, an English teacher at ISU, enjoy live music, biking, and hiking. They also like to travel on occasion, especially to the high desert of the Southwest, where they lived for a time.
