Kathy Larson is CARD's administrative specialist in charge of grants accounting. She initiates, prepares, and submits budgets and applications for research proposals and maintains CARD's fund accounts for accuracy and compliance. Larson is in charge of the center's internal accounting system and she implements any university-wide administrative changes at CARD. In addition, she performs employee personnel actions, office space management, and she helps to facilitate conferences sponsored by the center or its affiliates.

Larson came to CARD in January 2001 after working as an office manager and client services specialist at the ISU Small Business Development Center and Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship. She received her BBA in accounting at ISU in 1990, switching careers after 16 years as a dental hygienist.

Larson and her husband, David, who is a retired veterinary pathologist from ISU's College of Veterinary Medicine, are enjoying being grandparents. Their daughter Laura, her husband, and granddaughters Madelyn and Rachel make their home in Iowa City. In her leisure time, Larson enjoys gardening and is an avid quilter.
